This hands-on sewing program is designed to guide beginners step-by-step through the fundamentals of sewing while creating beautiful and practical projects. Over six weeks, students will learn essential techniques and gain confidence using a sewing machine.

Each class introduces new skills while completing a finished project. By the end of the program, students will have created several accessories and their own cozy bathrobe.

Total program time is approximately 16–17 hours (one class per week, 2.5–3 hours per class).

 

What You’ll Learn

• Safe and confident sewing machine operation
• Basic stitching, cutting, pinning, and pressing techniques
• Working with elastic, straps, drawstrings, and zippers
• Basic pattern understanding for beginner garments
• Practical sewing skills through guided weekly projects

Weekly Projects & Schedule

Week 1 — 2.5–3 hours
Meet Your Machine & Coaster
Learn the basics of sewing machine operation, threading, and stitch control while creating your first fun project — colorful scrunchies.

Week 2 — 2.5–3 hours
Tote  Bag
Practice straight seams and fabric handling while sewing a functional bottle bag — perfect for a water bottle or a small wine gift.

Week 3 — 2.5–3 hours
Zipper Make up Bag
Create a durable everyday tote bag while learning strap construction, seam reinforcement, and topstitching techniques.

Week 4 — 3 hours
Bathrobe Project — Part 1
Learn how to install a zipper and sew a lined cosmetic bag with a clean, professional finish.

Week 5 — 2.5–3 hours
Bathrobe Project — Part 2
Introduction to beginner garment construction. Learn basic pattern layout, fabric cutting, and assemble the main structure of your robe.

Week 6 — 3 hours
Alterations &Mending introduction 
Complete your bathrobe by adding finishing details, hems, and final touches.

What to Bring

Students will need to bring the fabrics and a spool of matching threads for the bathrobe .The recommended fabrics type and required amount will be discussed at the very first or second class , it may very depending on the student size and desired length.  

What’s Included

Sewing machines, tools, patterns, and all basic sewing notions required for the projects.

This program is designed to build confidence, creativity, and practical sewing skills — one stitch at a time.
